We spent our holidays in the north and central parts of Sardinia (Italy). More precisely we stayed in Tempio Pausania and Tortolì. Tempio is an ancient city in the north of Sardinia, with a lovely old town where all the buildings and main monuments are made of granite stone. It's placed on a hill, next to Mount Limbara, the second-highest mountain of Sardinia. Of course, we also went to Mount Limbara, which has an incredible view of the northern part of Sardinia. Tempio is surrounded by amazing countryside.

My expectations for these holidays were quite high; just like every holiday, reality has been different but not less pleasing.
Doing pilates and yoga every morning at the beach. I adore being at the beach early in the morning and doing yoga and pilates when it's empty and quiet. Well, I tried hard, but this time I couldn't exercise every morning because the children woke up earlier and extremely hungry and I had to prepare breakfast immediately. Then it was too hot to exercise at the beach, but, on the other hand, I took aqua gym lessons almost every day.
Eating healthy. We tried to cook healthy food as much as we could but the children's tastes are changing every day and basically, they prefer the same "holiday food" with few alternatives. So we enjoyed more pizzas, chips, and ice creams than we should have...
Sleeping. Like we do every year, we solemnly promised to sleep and take long naps, but of course, we didn't because the routine change modified all the children's needs. Results? We feel more tired than we thought at the beginning.
Reading. I thought I would read new intriguing books but I ended up re-reading a novel that I already knew, just to relax, as a comfort book before sleeping. But this year I re-discovered the pleasure of browsing a real fashion magazine, made of paper!
Relax. Relax is a big word. Let's say that we relaxed from time to time, among children's tantrums and fights. We thought the children would like being at the beach but they preferred riding their bicycles and exploring the camping. We thought they would like the mini club, but they weren't interested. They just wanted to enjoy the famous "Dolce far niente" and that's fine! This year I practiced the same philosophy: our holiday house was messy but I didn't care!
Sending postcards. I've always loved receiving and sending postcards but unfortunately, during the holiday I wasn't able to buy postcards because I thought I'd buy them in the next few days but, places that sell beautiful postcards are hard to find! Next time I'll try to buy them as soon as we arrive at our destination.
Writing a holiday diary with the children. My project was to collect leaves and flowers and make some drawings with the children on a beautiful notebook. We couldn't. In the beginning, the weather was so hot that we felt extremely tired and even nervous because it was almost impossible to go out during the day. I knew this would have been difficult. I'll save it for next summer. On the other hand, the children learned how to use their cameras and took their first holiday pictures!

In conclusion, our summer holiday has been quite different from our expectations but there were many surprises, lots of cuddles among the tantrums, and a lot of inspiration for the next months. See you summer and thank you!
